happy day

June 2, 2009

Tomorrow is a special day for me. … It’s… my… Birthday! Happy Birthday to me. I am 31 as of June 3rd. Wheeee!

Dave and I are going to Disneyland to celebrate my big day. What better way to celebrate a Happy day than by celebrating it at the happiest place on Earth. It’s even better that I get in for free and Dave has never been. We are going to have so much fun.

I’ve been a very good girl. I’ve been keeping up with my Wii Active. Today was a rest day and I went to the gym for 30 minutes. Tomorrow, however, is not a rest day. Hmmm… do I skip it and not worry about it cuz I’ll be at Disneyland all day.. or do I get up early and do it first thing in the morning? Hmmm….. I’ll decide when the alarm goes off.

I heard back from my old college. The same one that was hiring for a special position. They have received my resume and are processing it. I will be hearing from them on the 9th if I am accepted for an interview on the 16th. I will be shocked if i don’t qualify for an interview.

I wish I had a little bit of Lady Gaga waiting for me on the couch when I get home from Disneyland. I’ll blow real hard on the candles tomorrow!

weekend

May 31, 2009

It’s been an “ok” weekend. Little bit of lazy mixed with some action.

Saturday was a dangerous day. We woke up and turned the tv on only to be smack in the middle of “House”. Oh my.. Dave and I sat on the couch for hours before realizing we really needed to get out and do something. But…. what?!?

We took Mattie up to the Griffith Observatory and took her on a long walk around the trails. We had a nice refreshing walk and we felt good that the dog could come along.

Afterward, we took Mattie to a dog park around the same neighborhood. This was not an official dog park so it wasn’t fenced in. There were both large and small dogs in the area, but it was all grass covered. Mattie was so different at this park as opposed to the one we frequent. It must have been the grass! She was happy and playful and even interacted with other dogs. She seemed less stressed. When a group of big dogs came running by, she ran after them and there was a little poodle mix that she went to say hi to often and was never nervous around. It made Dave and I happy to watch her so comfortable. I’ll be curious to see how she acts at our normal dog park on Monday.

Saturday was a rest day for my Wii Active, but today was not. I was a good girl and did my 30 day challenge today while Dave watched played a game on his iPhone. It felt good to do good for my body.

The Weekend is Upon Us

May 29, 2009

Last night, Dave and I had another one of those emotionally heavy conversations. Since Dave’s job has gotten more demanding on his time, (for example last night our dinner together was interrupted by a phone call from his boss) little things between us has also been deteriorating. We spend less time talking and doing things we enjoy. Our intimacy has struggled as well. So last night we talked about things and hopefully there will be a gradual change to the positive between us.

I am very sore and keep getting more sore as the day progresses. The Wii Active kicked my ass. I’m looking forward to using it again later today.

I got some things accomplished today. I finally got 2 jackets and 3 pairs of pants to a seamstress to have them altered. Being short and not stick thin sucks. Pants are always too long and I had 2 jackets that the sleeves were too long. Well, that’s being fixed now and I will have some new outfits to wear.

I also stopped by GoodWill and dropped off all those clothes I cleaned out of my drawers and closet.

I got my Lady Gaga fix! Went to the store today and they finally had the new Rolling Stone Magazine there. I haven’t read the article yet, I’m saving it for later after my work out.

Take Me Away..

May 28, 2009

It’s been an “eh” week.  I’ve had the pleasure of hearing from MH not once but twice this week. First thing in the morning both times. First problem with the computer was a loss of half of his favorites in his Firefox browser which resulted in him wanting to restore his entire computer. I went to the gym during the restore and upon my arrival home, called him again. I then helped him learn how to use “bookmarks”.

This morning I was blessed with yet another phone call. Today was a problem with Word. He had all these documents that wouldn’t go away. What I learned about MH is that he does cause all his own problems. All these documents he wanted to get rid of were automatic recoveries of originals. Which means he isn’t saving properly. And then he would keep asking these files to reopen every time he would come back to Word.. so yeah.. DUH.. that’s why they won’t go away. After I help him get rid of all this, he then goes ahead and wipes out the original and I’m left wondering.. why did I go through all this problem of trying to save some of the info?

Last night Dave and I were not very smart when we went to bed. Instead of quietly winding down for the night and slipping into happy sleep, we started bitching about MH. He is convinced he and my mom can’t stay in CA because they can’t afford their own apartment. Um…. really? I have spent the last 7 years of my life making around 2000 something a month and could totally afford my own place and expenses PLUS a lot of debts that needed to be paid off. I’m not buying that they can’t afford a place here. He’s too snobbish. He’d rather move into a small house where he doesn’t have to pay anything because the relatives are letting them stay there for free. And he’s in a rush to get out of the current house. Um… why? Because they wanted to go ahead and short sell the house, they stopped making their payments… so what’s the rush to get out? He claims they are losing money. How is that possible when they are no longer paying their biggest expense? It’s a mess and I am trying not to think about it.

On happier news, yesterday I got us the EA Active for the Wii. I tried it out for the first time today and I liked it a lot. I found it better than the Wii Fit in that the “trainer” wasn’t so repetitive. In fact, the whole program is not repetitive. There is a 30 day challenge that I have just started today. Every day will be a new workout that focuses on different body locations. Just like a personal trainer. I’m looking forward to seeing the results.

And now for your Gaga fix: Guess who graces the cover of Rolling Stone magazine?
